Start of April and Sparkle Mountain adventure

SHEW! That was quite the blog catch up. My computer is junk and hasn't been working well, so it's been hard to update the blog. I think I finally figured out a better process to do it.

April is starting out as a great month so far!
Wolves and Bears doing an obstacle course at our house

I had to laugh when I went to feed Miles in the morning. Must have been a good dream!

My morning run yesterday was beautiful!

Love, love, love this picture. Saturday morning snuggles are the best!

Listening to conference
When Aaron went to Priesthood, I took the boys to a new spot just south in Arizona called "Sparkle Mountain." It was an old Gypsum mine. Hills and sparkling rocks. It was pretty amazing. Gavin about freaked out as we pulled up- "IT'S NOT A LEGEND MOM!!!" The boys had hours of fun hammering and searching out crystals. "We're super RICH Mom with all these crystals!!!!!"  So funny to watch these boys hard at work searching for crystals.

Jaylen had so many rocks in his pockets that he couldn't keep his pants up. It was pretty hilarious.
I was grateful for a night to go play and be with my boys making memories. We ended up at Wendy's eating hamburgers and laughing over Frosty's. So grateful for my forever family!

Also, exciting news! Aaron went to a job interview and came home with the job! He's working with a lady who has a similar schooling back ground to him in her business consulting company. She's been so busy and had to turn things down. Aaron started about 2 weeks ago and is really enjoying it so far! It works PERFECT for our family! He mostly works from home and can work whatever hours, whenever he can. There are things he sometimes goes to check out, but it's such a flexible good fit that makes it possible to stay here in St. George! He loves not being micromanaged and enjoys the type of work that he's doing. It's exciting to see him doing something he enjoys. It's a HUGE relief to have something so flexible that doesn't change our schedules too much. Finally being paid, instead of paying for school is a relief too!  Hopefully it will continue as a great long term job that they can grow.

Hiking Scout's Cave

We did the Scout's cave hike last week. It was so much fun! I had heard of it many times, but didn't know how to get to it. We finally ventured out and found it. It was perfect for the boys!

Miles loved hiking in the pack on my back. He's such a happy boy! He was very content being packed around.

A very beautiful day exploring with the family!

First track meet of the season!

The boys were excited to participate in the first track meet of the year! I was surprised by Jaylen's willingness to do the hurdles again and see if he could get over them this year. Last year he couldn't clear any of them so he ran under them. He was able to jump over all of them and was really excited!

The boys tried about every race and sport. They also came in dead last in every event, but didn't seem to care at all. At dinner Jaylen told me, "I'm so excited for next week's track meet Mom. I'm going to DOMINATE it!" I couldn't help but to chuckle. Love my happy, go lucky boy!

Las Vegas Super Spartan 2016

Jaylen went with me a couple days before the Spartan race to have a Spartan Pro, Tyann, show us some tips on the obstacles. It was really helpful. Jaylen LOVED the spear throw!

Hiking up this was ridiculous!

They wet this all down and had us roll, crawl through this.

Our first Spartan went very well! It was such a different experience. The beginning was a very "primal" feeling. I was surprised by the group we started with- girls wearing booty shorts, boobs hanging out, with make up on. Not impressed. I quickly realized that a lot of cross fitters do this event and they must not train on running at all. Almost everyone was walking. I passed many complaining people "cramping" up at mile 3. It was silly to me. It was a hard course and a lot of it was through sand, so my running back ground gave me an advantage for sure. The obstacles reminded me alot of my farming back ground and duties as a mom. Carrying a 20 lbs bag up and down a hill. Hopping over walls, hay bales, carrying boulders, climbing ropes, arm crawling through mud, filling pails with rocks and walking them up and down hills, hiking straight up inclines. It was a pretty awesome experience. They send people off in waves throughout Saturday and Sunday. If you can't do an obstacle or fail at it you do 30 burpees per obstacle. I ended up with burpees at the spear throw and rope climb.

The boys took on the kid's Spartan race. They were SO CUTE! Gavin went 2nd and took off and never looked back! It was pretty awesome watching them attack their own races.

Miles was so excited to be done to get his banana and granola bar! haha!

Our "team"

I couldn't believe the results when I saw them!! I tried, but didn't feel like I pushed as hard as a could. I'm anxious to try it again and really work for it!

At the start

Such a beautiful, fun day!
