Federal Escape Olympic Tri & Jaylen's first triathlon

I was so excited to do the Federal Escape Olympic triathlon this morning. I've had a lot of fun training for it- such a relief from all the running I was doing with the ultra training. It was a beautiful day, although it rained on me for a bit during the bike. It was a challenging, fun course. A great way to celebrate the start of the Olympics! (and gave me a huge appreciation for the real athletes!)

Before the swim. The lake was BLACK. It was a rough first 1/4 mile getting used to the water and avoiding any kicks. Very challenging- but once I got going, got in my groove and AFTER swallowing half the lake water- it went smoothly.

Aaron came later with the kids and caught me on the run. It was SUCH a relief to get to the run. It was challenging for sure, but I gained alot of ground and passed a lot of people who had passed me on the bike.

Finished in 3 hours!

Jaylen ran in with me..

My cute support crew!

Jaylen before his first triathlon! He was SO excited. He kept asking when it was starting- so anxious to get in the water and get going!

Eager?

Jaylen's swim cap completely cracked us up. He was quite the hit.

Oh, I love this kid...

Jaylen in his age group wave. 3 of them! Ha- it was so cute!

Jaylen wanted to keep going around and around. He was so excited to be racing out on the course!

Fun with family

Jaylen had a blast with Radene and Justin's kids while they were here before and after their family reunion. Dilion, Carter and Jaylen played together so well and were so sweet with each other! We all went to the zoo one day. It was fun to spend time together. Jaylen already misses his friends A LOT!

On our way out to the car Jaylen and Carter held each other's hands (without prompting) and were planning their fun days together. "First we'll wake up, eat breakfast, exercise, watch a show together, eat lunch, and play in the sandbox, okay?!"  So precious!

Their silly faces are the best!

Jessie McNaughton is in town with her 2 boys and invited us over for an afternoon in the lake. Nastasha is in Hawaii and let me borrow her paddle boards so we got to make a round around the lake. Great to connect and have an afternoon together!
Aaron was amazing bringing both boards up!
Thursday afternoon I took the boards out with Holly and later took Jaylen on a ride. There were HUGE jelly fish out there. Definitely gave me motivation to not fall in!!

Day Out With Thomas

Jaylen has been such a good boy and doing great with his chore chart, so for his reward we took him out to A Day Out With Thomas in North Bend. Jaylen was in heaven. He met Sir Topham Hatt, rode on a real Thomas the Train steam engine, and got to play with train tables and see a bunch of trains. It was adorable!

Boarding Thomas the Train for a beautiful ride up the river

Excited?!?!

This train ride was real fun, until 2 kids continued to blow whistles the entire time. Torturous. We were so happy to be off the train by the end!

Fun day out with the family. I love days like this!
