Silly stories

I had one of those overwhelming moments of feeling so grateful to be a mother while holding my sleepy Gavin today. So sweet, innocent and tender. So safe and loved in my arms. It's a beautiful thing.
So many funny stories from the kids and I fear I don't write enough of them down. Here's a few random ones that still make me chuckle:

We're trying to get Gavin out of pull-ups at night. So we told him to go potty before bed- "just try and push anything out." He got frustrated and didn't want to go to the bathroom. After telling him he had to he exclaimed, "I don't want to push anything out of my holes!!!" We busted up laughing.

One night we had just gotten the boys out of the bath tub. I started reading scriptures with Jaylen when Aaron picked up Gavin and held him on his lap. He gives him a kiss on his head and suddenly looks over at us on the couch. "Why does Gavin have poop in his hair??" Jaylen immediately got worried. "WHY DOES GAVIN HAVE CRAP ON HIS HEAD?!" Jaylen was too scared to tell, so we asked Gavin. "Buppy pooped on my head in my room." Aaron pulled Jaylen in their room. "WHERE IS THE POOP?? WHAT HAPPENED?!" Jaylen wouldn't answer but knew he had done something. As I re-bathed Gavin, Aaron immediately put Jaylen to bed. Listening to Aaron sternly yell at Jaylen was dang funny. "THERE WILL BE NO POOP ANYWHERE BUT IN THE TOILET IN THIS HOUSE. YOU WILL NEVER, EVER CRAP ON YOUR BROTHER'S HEAD AGAIN."

Aaron went to our room and a few seconds later came roaring back in and snagged Jaylen out his head. "Why is there a TURD on our floor??"  Apparently, Jaylen had gotten out of the bathtub a second too late to go to the bathroom and not made it in time to the toilet. He wiped poorly and they ran around shaking their naked booties around before putting on PJs. Somewhere in the chasing each other's naked buns around poop got on Gavin's head.

We laid down in bed an hour later, Aaron still breathing heavily and flustered from kissing a poopy head. I busted up laughing. "What just happened?! How did our evening turn out like that??" It was priceless. We had no idea our life would involve investigating poop when we became parents. Oh boys. Oh so gross.

Red Cliffs hike

We had a cool, overcast day so we had to take advantage of it by going on the Red Cliffs hike. Olivia, Gavin's best friend came along and we picked up Ellie and CJ to join us.

I LOVE this picture. They are such good buddies! Gavin was such a gentleman, helping her up some big rocks. It was really sweet.

My cute niece and nephew

Finished off our hike with a swim in Quail Creek Lake

I love full, fun days spent with family and friends!

Summer Games- CHAMPIONS

Aaron played in the Utah Summer games. He was explaining it to me, he said it was like the Olympics, but special to Utah. So I said, "You're playing in the special Olympics?" It was pretty fun to tease him about that all week. They had all types of sports- gymnastics, 5k, any and all types of sports. Sarah and German came down for ultimate frisbee and stayed overnight with us. It was so fun to see them and watch her completely dominate frisbee. They took gold!

Playing spike ball with these two was way fun!
This game was incredible. We were up by 6, 43 seconds on the clock. They came down and shot this wild 3. As we passed it in, it got turned over and they put up another 3 and it went in- TIED when we thought it was a done deal seconds earlier. So 10 seconds left on the clock, we had the ball. We came down, scrambled, somehow Aaron ended up with the ball on the 3 point line- looked over to a shooter, looked at the clock, wound up and shot from beyond the 3. Nailed it at the buzzer, winning the game for the team. It was AMAZING. We were sooooo excited. Such a talented player he is!
They played 5 games in less than 2 days. They worked hard for this gold!

My basketball champion! He knows so many people around here from basketball. He plays early on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays and on a league Tuesday nights. He's over the deacons at church and plays with them often and encourages them and goes to see them play. He's such a great example and has used his basketball as such a service tool! It's fun to watch him doing what he loves!

June happenings

Jaylen rode his bike by me when I ran one day. We found this perfect rolling hill so we rolled down a couple times. Love the fun giggles from my sweet boy.

I couldn't find my flip flops anywhere. I realized Jaylen was wearing them and actually fit them pretty well. He's growing so fast!
I found about 20 pictures of this on my phone. We feel asleep watching Frozen and Jaylen decided to take pictures of us.

Our garden has been greaT! The boys love going out and checking for new produce. They're always munching on a dirty carrot, sweet peas, or have tomato seeds running own their cheek.

These 2 are just so cute!

Beautiful morning bike ride

Putting on last chance workout. By the way, we just rebranded away from the Biggest Loser and we're now called Fitness Ridge (like we were originally).

Jaylen gnawing on a yummy Armenian cucumber.

We went to the children's musuem- Gavin was such a cute little Patriot.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday was a day at sea. It was great. We took a nap, I read a book and lounged by the pool, ate brunch in the morning (caramel cheesecake for brunch was to DIE for. Yum yum!) A great rest and relax (and eat!) day.

We'd go to the family friendly comedy, karaoke and then dinner in the evenings. It was such a good line up for the evening.

The moon was so bright! Eating the el quattro pizza was delicious!

One of our favorite comedians. He was on the Dave Chappel show (mud butt) and Barbership. He was pretty dang funny!

Fun around the ship

Yum yum, a Miami Vice I had.

Karaoke was incredible on the ship. There was this older guy, Vincent, who was on the cruise alone and would get up there and completely rock out a song- in a completely off pitch, terrible way. He was so hilarious to watch! Definitely a fan favorite. We didn't sing but we sure had fun laughing at the hilarious people jamming out!
I was up early, running around the track when we pulled into Miami. So pretty!

Jen and Alex were awesome to come get us off the ship. We stopped by the beach and chatted for a bit before they dropped us off at the airport. It was good to have a few extra minutes with them!

Cute brothers

It was a long, long trip home. Flight to Atlanta, San Antonio, to Vegas, a late shuttle to St.George. Such an amazing trip. So amazing to spend a fun week with Aaron. I loved our trip, but was very happy to get out of the humidity and back to our beautiful St George. So grateful to Merilee for spoiling the boys and taking such good care of them! We were sad to see her go, but glad the boys had such a good time with her. They called me grandma for days after- ha! I loved seeing our sweet boys. They're the best!

Friday- Grand Turks

One bad thing about having a room with a window, is once I see any part of the sun peaking through, I am up. I'd go up to the track and jog around- I loved watching the sun come up and watch us come into port. So beautiful up there on the boat.

They had all these towel animals out on all the chairs one morning. They are so neat!

Pulling into Grand Turks. Excited to try out Snuba for the first time!

BEAUTIFUL ISLAND. Wow, the water was so clear and fish so colorful! The reef around it dropped off 700 feet- incredible.

We got picked up and delivered to a beach where our awesome (basketball playing) snuba instructor instructed us and took us out into the water. We LOVED it. So amazing to see sting rays, all kinds of fish, an eel so close up under the water. We went down 10-15 feet and had our oxygen floating on a raft above. It made us really want to go scuba dive!

Our Snuba instructory was telling us about the island of Grand Turk- a 7 mile long, by 2 miles wide island. One main road that loops around, less than 5000 people on the island. He gave me directions to run around the island. I was baffled when he told me they never had triathlons there or races. WHAT A PERFECT LOCATION. I told him we'd be back and I'd put on a Grand Turks Triathlon. He was all for it!

Once we got back to the ship, we were pushing for time if I ran it, so we both rented bikes to go explore the whole island. BEST DECISION! It was so fun. Riding on the "wrong" side of the road with cars was crazy- we kept getting mixed up and people would politely correct us. We really got to explore the WHOLE island! We stopped to look at hurricane destroyed (we think!) homes and ended up at the lighthouse at the other end of the island. Wild horses and donkeys roamed the island. It was so fascinating. Definitely another favorite stop!
Selfies on a bike are treacherous! :)

Wild horses

The hill of death. Man, that thing brutal! Great view from the top though!

 The lighthouse!

Wild donkeys hanging around

Governor's beach

Margarita-ville right off the dock

We had a few minutes to spare to swim and see all kinds of fish in this area before jumping back on the boat.

Sailing away

Yup- all that food was ours

Perfect pullup bridge!
Snapshot of Friday

Grand Turk and San Juan was definitely our favorite stops. Would love, love, love to go back to Grand Turks!
