My work schedule changed and I'm now around all afternoon on Mondays. I made a real effort today to be present with my little boy. We played games, memory, played with sock monkeys, snuggled while watching Creative Galaxy (his new fav show), did "homework" together, tickled, jumped on the trampoline, wrestled, ate lunch together.
It was so different today. He was so eager to snuggle with me, love on me, and so excited to play and be silly with me. He kept wanting to be in my lap, flirting with me with those sweet little eyes. He was so full of kisses and hugs, wanting to talk to me and play. I throughly loved his sweet playfulness today.
I loved our day together. Adoring his long, beautiful lashes above those deep brown eyes he got from his Daddy. That cute, soft little bum he loves giggling about. That little off colored tooth in that cheesy grin he got from some crazy flip off the couch months ago. Hearing his sweet breaths on my cheek while he's giving me a "squeezy" hug. The whispers in my ears to tell me a "secrit." His dirty little toes from racing around the trampoline like Lighning McQueen. Watching him chase my toy car around the living real, squealing in delight. Reading books and looking at old photos of him and Jaylen.
Finally, watching his exhausted little body drift off to sleep content and safe in my arms during family home evening. Listening to his gentle snore while I held him against my chest. Carrying him to bed, tucking him in with his cute giraffe blankie, untucking the front of his shirt that he's crazy about having tucked in all the time.
I love him. I always have. Today, I felt like my heart might burst with gratefulness for being given the chance to be this sweet boy's mom.
Gavin, you are loved and so cared for. You melt me with your tight hugs, deep brown eyes and excitement every time you squeal for joy when I come home to you. You bring pure joy to our home. Love you!
