11th Anniversary in Zion's National Park

11 years ago we were married in the St. Louis Temple in Missouri. Crazy to think about all that has happened since then! We've had such a fun, crazy time full of adventures all around the country. I'm lucky to have Aaron as a companion. He's an amazing man and I feel like I don't deserve him most of the time. I feel very lucky to be with him.

I could go on and on, but I wanted to share some pictures of our anniversary night get away. Our back door neighbors watched our boys from Friday-Saturday so we could go hike the Narrows in Zion's National Park. We stayed the night in a hotel, woke up and went for a run, ate breakfast, and had a quiet, relaxing morning. It was PERFECT!

We rented these water hiking shoes that were PERFECT for the Narrows. They gave great traction and we were able to hike through pretty quickly.

Hahaha, Sorry honey. It's my blog, my memories. Aaron going to the bathroom sitting between two rocks was pretty hilarious.

Aaron impersonating our Jaylen. Jaylen loves to do the adventure look whenever we're out hiking. It's pretty darn cute.

The water was great. It was about 75 degrees in the canyon and the water was 57 degrees. It sounds colder than it felt

Zion's is amazing. It's absolutely beautiful and stunning! It was so fun to trek along and chat with Aaron (without any little people interrupting :). So fun to reminisce on the last 11 years and where we are now.

I naturally wake up pretty early with all my morning classes I teach, so I woke up before the sun was up and ran the Pa'yrus trail that goes up into Zion's. It was SO amazing to watch the sun rise over the majestic mountains. Zion's just doesn't even look real- it looks like wallpaper!

11 years! I can't believe it. It's been such a fun adventure together and I can't wait for so many more!

Father's Day 2015

A good memory of hearing all this noise to find Aaron chasing the boys around like a big angry bird. Such a fun dad!

I found this picture of Scott, my dad, and Jared, above me and Rachel in the sand. It was neat to spend Father's Day morning having breakfast with my two brothers. I wish Dad was there too (and who knows! Maybe he was!) I'm so grateful for all the life lessons my Dad taught me. I don't know where I would be without having him throughout my childhood. I miss him every day and wished I could share my parenting experiences with him- oh how he'd laugh.

Everyone helped me pull together some Magleby's french toast for Father's Day breakfast.

Aaron-out of nowhere-reveals that he can braid and braids Maggie's hair. We all had a good laugh watching his braiding skills.

Maggie did this amazing braiding job on my hair! Seriously impressed with my niece's braiding skills!

Cute cousins playing-

Addie was teaching Jaylen some piano songs to play

Before taking off to church together. Seeing Gavin and Jaylen sing to Aaron is priceless!

I felt such overwhelming gratitude in my heart all Father's Day. Aaron is such a great dad- absolutely one of his best qualities. He puts so much love, care and attention into our boys. His perspective on being a dad is amazing and he works really hard at it due to his life's experiences. Aaron's post from Father's Day:
"It is because of this man (he had a picture of him and his dad) that I strive to be the best father I can to my boys. Although he was only here on earth a few years of my life, I remember many things we did together and know that he loved me, my brothers and my mom. Being a father to my own boys has fulfilled any childhood void I may have had, having grown up mostly without him. The little, everyday things I experience with Jaylen and Gavin have come to mean exponentially more to me as I think about how much my dad would have wanted more earthly time with me and my brothers. I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to be a father and learn those lessons only fatherhood can teach. I love you dad and I love you Jaylen, Gavin and Miles!!!"
Taking a nap on Father's Day
Looking through pictures of our boys with their daddy brought so many tears. I love the relationship they have and nothing beats seeing the people I love the most love and bond with each other. The boys are so lucky to have Aaron- I just can't say it enough. He brings such good, solid parenting to our family.

Halloween rice krispie treats! The boys loved helping Aaron. He was so patient and loved involving them!

I don't know what I'd do without Aaron. He's such a solid rock for our family. As our life changes this year (phasing out of school, working new jobs away from home, new baby), I have spent a lot of time thinking about our experiences so far. We've been so lucky to each be able to split work and be with the boys. The boys are lucky to be able to have so much time with their dad these past few years. We might not have had all the money we'd like, but we've had so much time together, flexibility and the boys have been richly blessed by their exposure to both their parents in the way they've had.

I don't know how Aaron juggles it all. He just started a new part time job working for the city of Washington in the accounting department. He works 20-25 hours there a week, while keeping on top of his full time school and other work commitments with my brother. We've missed having him home and available this past week as he started his new job. I'm grateful for the work and effort he puts in to supporting us and also making sure we're all sane and taken care of at home (it's not an easy task!).

I get nervous about being able to do as good a job of keeping the home front as organized and happy as he does with him phasing into working from being home with school. He does an amazing job with the boys and I'm grateful to have him as a companion.

Jaylen was adorable about Father's Day. He came up with a whole schedule for Aaron and came to me with it. He had his meals planned out, a foot and back rub scheduled and also typed up all the reasons he loves him and they printed it out and handed him the little slips throughout the day. It was really cute. They love and look up to their daddy so much! Gavin handed Aaron a little slip that said, "I love cake." It was pretty dang funny. That kid is hilarious.

Happy Father's Day to truly the best dad ever!

Sand Hollow with neices and nephew

I took Jared's kids out to Sand Hollow to play for the day when Jenny was gone on a cruise. We had a blast jumping off rocks and playing in the water!
So fun to live close to these cuties! It's hard to get together with schedules, but when we do it's a blast!
Addie, Ellie and Libby walking on water!

Jaylen is so like me sometimes. I spotted him sun bathing on this rock on my way out. He loves to be warm.

Oh, Ellie cracks me up. Check out that pose!

It was the perfect height to jump from! High enough to make it fun, yet not too high that I didn't feel safe. The water felt great!
Cute Addie!

Scott's family comes to visit

My brother Scott's family came through on their way to Vegas and up to northern Utah. It's been a long time (probably over 4/5 years) since I've seen their family last (they didn't make it to our family reunion last year). It was good to catch up, see their kids and meet their newest ones I haven't met yet (they have 7).  We played at a park and got together at Jared's house and had a yummy Father's Day breakfast.

I was teasing them that I had two poses- the thinker or the stinker. My brother's might be embarrassed of me...

So fun to have cousins around the same age!
