Start of June- pre trip

I knew we were going to get in late on Father's Day, so we held Father's Day the Sunday before we left. The boys loved rubbing Aaron's feet and helping make a special meal for Daddy.

Aaron is the best father. He's loving, playful, a great communicator with the kids, snuggly, hard working, silly and puts his boys very high on his priority list. Jaylen and Gavin are such lucky boys! I can't tell you how often I thank the lucky stars above that I ended up with such an awesome man. Seeing him loving on our boys makes me love him deeper than I can imagine.
He's also an amazing leader to the lucky boys in the Young Mens. He loves, cares and supports those boys and connects with them in such amazing ways.

Gavin and Olivia- best buddies!

Holly, Stephanie and I have met for tennis at the park many afternoons while our kids play. I have such a fun time with those ladies!

I was sitting on the couch and Jaylen came out with lotion and started rubbing my feet. He's such a cute, thoughtful little boy. Love his sweetness!

Sand Hollow Olympic Triathlon

I raced in the Sand Hollow Olympic Tri on May 31. It was an awesome race. It started at 8, so I still had time to sleep in, play with the kids, have breakfast and head out to the lake once Aaron got back from basketball. Jaylen loved trying to wear my cap:

A perfect day for the race. It was beautiful!

So if you've done many running races, there is always HUGE lines by the porta potties before the start. This was such a breathe of fresh air to walk over the the potties, expecting long lines and not having to wait at all. There are getting to be plenty of reasons that triathlons are pretty much amazing races.

I came in from the swim in about 35 minutes- Aaron and the boys had gotten there by then. It was awesome seeing them when I got out of the water. The swim felt great- had no problems.

Before heading off to the lake

I was reflecting back on my very first triathlon in New Mexico in April 2010 (I think). Almost the same number I was for this tri! I never would have thought I'd be doing the things I am now back then! Such a fun path this race started me on!
Heading off on the bike. So cute to see my boys cheering for me when I headed out. Such a beautiful ride- I know this path well and I felt like I pushed hard the whole time.

Bike mount

Running my bike out to the mounting line

These didn't download in order but oh well. After I finished we went right down to the beach (since Aaron left the kids down there to play while we watched me finish) and ended up playing around and jumping off rocks into the water with the kids. I came up an hour or so later to hear some announcing going on- I went over to listen and heard I played second in my age, 8th overall woman! I hadn't seen my time or anything since I finished, so I had no idea how I'd done. It was pretty neat!

I was overjoyed to also win a foot long sub sandwich (which Aaron and the boys promptly ate in 2 minutes).

My riding buddy, Sheryl and I. Her and her daughter completed the sprint triathlon!
Coming back in from the run to the finish:

The end of the run was on a ridiculous hill coming up from the road. It made the finishing push pretty hard. So excited to see the finish line!

Going out from the bike to the run. 6.2 miles of HOT, HOT, HOT.
Meanwhile the boys had fun playing at the lake, exploring rocks and playing in the sand.

The boys loved riding the bus shuttle in to watch.

Sand Hollow is beautiful!

The boys kept laughing at me wearing "my clothes" to swim. So fun to play around with them in the lake!
A very fun, put together race that was 4 miles from our house! They do it again, Kokopelli, in the fall so I'll have another chance to do this race again this year. Very fun!

My results:

Swim was 35:46, Bike was 1:10:45, Run was 51:24

May wrap-up

There was so much going on in May! Wow, what a month. Here's some of the things that happened in late May:

I used a gift card that was given to me from Claire's, that I've had in my purse for over a year. It was hilarious to be among all these little girls, looking for what I'd want to buy there. I haven't been there for quite awhile and wow, I'm way too old for that store. I ended up getting a set of foam rollers to put in my hair overnight. They weren't fun to sleep on, but it was fun to have curly hair all day on Sunday.

After Jaylen's kindergarten graduation we went on a bike ride along the trail that goes by our house. It was Aaron's first time exploring the trail!

Jared came over to do some work with Aaron and brought CJ, so I took them to the nearby river. They were in heaven building castles, collecting moss, being buried, and playing in the sand.

cousins

Jaylen was so cute, all snuggly on Aaron looking at videos

We did a family swim/BBQ with the Harwoods and Baughs. Both of these families have all girls, so it's funny seeing Jaylen amidst all these cuties.  After dinner we took the kids to Stephanie's house where a babysitter watched the kids while we played games over at the Baughs. It was such a fun night!

Our backyard neighbors, the Burnetts, invited Jaylen and Gavin over to play on their toy. They had a blast!
I don't remember at all what was so funny but Jaylen had a bad case of the giggles during this meal. I love his high pitch giggle.
I got some free gear (read below), one of which happened to be a Miami Heat shirt. I came home wearing it to tease Aaron. He was listening to the Heat vs Spurs on his phone and once he saw me, about beat me till I took it off. Ha! It was so worth it!
So we've had this guy named UNK at Fitness Ridge (formally Biggest Loser Resort) for 3 weeks. He had this book laying in the trainers office with him and literally hundreds of celebrities. Come to find out, he owns a clothing line with exclusive rights to the NBA and is doing a NBA 4 HER line. He gave me a bunch of his gear to wear and market while he was there. He's a super nice guy and we became pals. He recently reached out and asked if I'd be in his catalog, sporting his NBA sports gear. Free workout stuff- HECK YES! After he brought it up, he discussed with me how many photo shoots he goes to where the girls are throwing up before their shoots and he liked that I'm an athletic, strong build- not one of these unrealistic, sick girls. It was a great conversation. Enough of the fake, unrealistic, sickly girls. Put some real, hard working people out there! So not sure what will come of it yet, but I have a photo shoot coming up soon. Should be interesting!

Gavin loves watching Frozen. Lately, when I have a braid in, he pulls my braid to the side and tells me I'm Elsa. It's pretty funny. "Mommy, you're ELSA!"

Aaron was closing his eyes during church today. Gavin looked over and said, "Daddy, there isn't a bed here, this is CHURCH, keep your eyes open!" It was pretty funny to hear Gavin scold Aaron over sleeping at church.

Jaylen's kindergarten graduation

Jaylen graduated from kindergarten!! It was cute to watch his graduation program. Unfortunately Jaylen's teacher, Mrs. Barrett, has a very ill husband who was life flighted to Salt Lake a couple days before graduation so she wasn't there. Jaylen had a great time in school this year and learned a lot!

Jaylen was so tall in the back with those long arms!

Our proud graduate!

Top left- Jaylen and our neighbor Sabrina (who's in his class). Bottom left- Jaylen and Ms. Hunt, his student teacher that spent a lot of time in their classroom.
I just asked Jaylen what his favorite thing about kindergarten was and he said, "All the learning." Hopefully he keeps his excitement up throughout school!
