I really have to get better at recording the funny and cute things Jaylen says lately. He is constantly cracking us up- and if I don't write it down, I forget once I go to record it here. Here are a few I DO remember at the moment:
Me: "Jaylen, let's go. We need to go get some things at the store."
Jaylen: "Mom, I can't go to Walmart. I'm almost certain I'm allergic to that place!"
On the way to church:
"Daddy, you are a REALLY handsome butterfly today and so is Gavin. Mom, you're a pretty butterfly. Mom, every month I'm going to tell you what kind of pretty thing you are. Maybe next month you'll be a really pretty turtle."
I rushed over with the kids to my race packet pickup on Friday before heading to an appointment for Gavin. Across the street from the shoe store that was doing the packets, I saw a TRAIN store. I was in a hurry, but SOOOOO tempted to take Jaylen across the street for just a second. So, I found myself talking aloud to myself about my internal struggle about whether to do it or not but was careful not to say anything about a train store being nearby to alert Jaylen. I opted not too. Jaylen, having no idea what I debating, said, "Oh no Mom! Don't give up. You can do anything you want. Just keep trying to do the best you can and you can do it. Just think with your little brain and keep trying, okay? We'll find a way to make it work." It was quite amazing to hear this little pep talk coming from my wise 4 year old.
On our way somewhere Jaylen was talking and said, "I just want to be a big Daddy one day."
We said, "You'll have plenty of time to be that later, just enjoy being a little boy." He said, "But I really want to be a big grown up Daddy," in such a tender voice. He loves and looks up to his Dad very much!
Jaylen was weighed and measured last week- 48" tall and 48 lbs! He was a good one inch taller on Grandma B's board than Aaron was at his age. Feel like we're raising a couple monsters... which speaking of...
GAVIN. This kid is incredible with food. I know I've said it time and time again, but he is CONSTANTLY eating something and anything. I keep thinking it's a growth spurt or something, but it's never ending. The only time he's not eating something is when he's asleep. I found him a couple days ago, on his belly outside, trying to eat grass and sip from a puddle of mud. He'll eat anything he can find and loves to find scraps in the trash can. We call him our little piggy, and he even knows how to make a cute snorting noise. He was just weighed too, and I wish I would have written down his stats but I believe he was 28 lbs and I'll have to double check on his height.
He's understanding and saying more all the time. He loves giving Aaron's knee kisses, enjoys family kisses, doggies, and is getting more into looking at books. He's good at pointing to his belly button, saying "ewwwww!" when he's getting changed, pointing to his and others' nose, and is just in general, sooooo adorable. He enjoys using his own spoon/fork to eat, is extremely messy and loves (much to our dismay) to throw food over board from his high chair. He loves to try to chase and wrestle Jaylen.
