Snarly face

This picture is currently our desktop background and I can't help but laugh when I see it. His "snarly face" as we call it is just plain awesome. He didn't sleep extremely well over the weekend in Denver, nor were his naps consistent, so this is pretty much the face he kept during the wedding festivities on Saturday. What a silly boy!

Firsts

I wanted to make this posting on firsts in May, so Jaylen can look back in the future and marvel about how he survived past 15 months. Here's some of Jaylen's first for May.

1. Eating toothpaste and needing to call Poison Control
2. Trip to the ER for finger burns after playing with treadmill
3. Climbing on kitcken table and sitting on dirty dishes in sink
4. Standing on top of the couch- and taking a flip off
5. Crawling in and out of the tub fully clothed
6. Crawling up on our high bed
7. Attempting to grab Daddy's things off his nightstand and falling off the bed
8. Climbing on and off Daddy's scooter
9. Crawl up on toilet and suck on Daddy's shaving cream
10. Chew on soap bar while taking a bath
11. Climb up on chair and bang on computer keyboard
12. Put sandwich in toilet
13. Puts face in the water at the pool
14. First molars came in
15. Can say, "No" along with , "Cheese" "Daddy" "Doggie" along with other words he mimics on command
16. We started disciplining using timeouts
17. Got into a bottle and almost ate an Allegra pill

We are just over half way through May, so lets hope Jaylen survives to his 16 month birthday.

He has learned how to blow kisses and give kisses. So it makes up for all his mischief!

See the resemblence?

Soooo precious! Aaron read stories to Jaylen tonight for bedtime- and Jaylen feel fast asleep in his arms. They are definitely father and son. Jaylen is all Edgley!

25 years old!

I had a great birthday on Tuesday! I had an early morning client, and came home to see a cute "Happy Birfday" note written on our bathroom mirror from Aaron. (What a sweetheart!) My day didn't start out too hot, spending 2 hours in the MVD to get a New Mexico license, but it quickly improved after one of my awesome clients, Amber, took me and Jaylen out to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes! It was sooo delicious, and so refreshing. After lunch, Jaylen and I and a friend and her baby took a swim in the pool at work. I trained a couple great clients, then headed out to dinner at Tucano's with awesome Aaron! When we got home I was surprised to see our cardboard table with a happy birthday note on it. I LOVED MY NEW BOSU AND KETTLE BELLS! Wow, what a surprise, and I'm very very happy for them! Also, Aaron surprised me with his own homemade cheesecake! I felt so spoiled! Such a fun, productive day. My favorite!

Climbing

Jaylen, much to our frustration, loves climbing on top of everything now days- and we still don't feel like he has a sense of whats dangerous- so it's very nerve wracking for us. He figured out how to climb on Aaron's scooter (the newest addition to our family, so Aaron has a way to and from work) and today I went to file some forms away, and I found Jaylen sitting on top of dirty dishes in the sink 2 minutes later (He crawled up our LoveSac onto the kitcken counter apparently- I would have snapped a picture but I was furious since I put him in "timeout" 3x before this event). With all the events and learning Jaylen's been doing in the past few weeks, life is no doubt going to get interesting....

Laughs and words..

Yesterday Aaron had off work, so Jaylen had a day with daddy while I went to work. This is a little taste of their fun!

Jaylen has started saying a few words recently, one of his favorites is "Three!" cause that's when all the fun happens. Whenever we play in the pool and have him jump in, we say, 1...2.....3!!!!!! and once he hits the water he says, "3, 3, 3!" So this morning he found a ball and was trying to count to three then threw the ball. We also count to 3 to throw him in the LoveSac and if we just count, he gets all excited when we get to 3. It's pretty cute. He also says "No" which isn't so fun, but it's pretty funny still. The first real discernable work we made out that he was actually referring to something was "cheese" from about a week ago. This morning he grabbed a picture of Aaron I have on my night stand and kept saying, "DadDY!" So I think he finally knows how to refer to us. A few nights ago he was playing shooting hoops with Aaron and Aaron was teaching him to say, "Please" when he wanted the ball, and "Thank you" once he got it. Jaylen mimiced the sounds and was really cute. I have a feeling life is about to get a whole lot more interesting....

Mother's Day

What a great Mother's Day. We had a fun time in the park, eating some sandwiches and playing with our cute boy. Jaylen loved having weeds to tickle Aaron on top his shoulders, and thanks to Aaron for my lemon squeezer and Merilee for her awesome lotion and smell good things! You guys are the best!

Sleepy boy

After we put Jaylen to bed, before we go to bed, we usually sneak in to peak on him. He is so adorable when he sleeps. Here's the other night after we put him to bed... He loves this little bear... sometimes in the morning I'll peak in to see him "talking" (jabbering) to him. Its sweet.

"Daddy Kisses"

This is one of those special times that I had to have recorded. We got this "Daddy Kisses" book given to us at the hospital when we had Jaylen. Aaron has always read him this book at night before he goes to bed, and within the past 5-8 months, Jaylen will go pick it out of a pile and laugh as he brings it to Aaron. Its soo soo sweet, and I love that he knows its his and daddy's special book. One of those sweet moments that makes being a parent so worthwhile! I just can't say it enough- I really love that father/son relationship. It melts my heart!

Laughing till it hurts..

Love these boys!

Peek a boo!

He was hiding behind our kitchen and peeking out and laughing so cute. He really enjoys hide and seek- I'll go run and hide somewhere and he comes and finds me, and I jump out and scare him. Its hilarious and he completely loves it. Favorite spots to hide that get him every time: behind the doors, in the shower curtain, in his closet, behind the LoveSac, in the kitchen and behind the rocking chair in his room. Gets him every time. I sure love our 15 month old boy!

New obsession..

Jaylen is all about light switches now days. He love turning them off! He has yet to learn how to turn them on, but he laughs and laughs when we hold him up to play with them. Man, do I love his sweet little laugh. Such a sweet boy...

Our smart boy.

Jaylen found my old glasses and was having fun running around in them today. We really love how expressive and fun he is getting! Such a sweet boy! (Also a good look at the progress his poor little pinky is making today..)

ER..

Saturday marked our first time taking Jaylen to the ER. We were in our complex's weight room and I was walking on the treadmill while watching the Celtics/Bulls game- Jaylen's always had a very frustrating fascination with treadmill, so I thought I'd lower the speed down and let him see what it was all about, and hoped that it would fulfill his curiosity and he'd move on to something else. Bad mistake. He was patting on it just fine, then next thing we knew, his hands slid down with it and he started crying. When I picked him up I realized two of his fingers (1 on each hand) was bleeding like crazy, and burned pretty bad. On his pinky we saw alot of white- and was worried about it being down to the bone- so we decided to jump in the car and take him down to the hospital. 4 1/2 hours later, after waiting in the ER with some pretty wacky people, they cleaned it out, bandaged it, took Xrays (no broken fingers- shew!) and released us. We probably didn't need to go- but we wanted to make sure everything was alright. What a painful night for us all- it was so sad to see him so upset over something so silly that we allowed him to do. He slept in till 10 am this morning, and has been completely happy all day- and his fingers look gross- but he doesn't seem phased by it! What a way to spend his 15 month birthday, huh!

What a frustrating experience- we'll avoid the ER at all cost from now on! What a crazy day...

Bring on summer!

Cute Jaylen wearing my sunglasses before going to the pool for the first time this summer!
