Front porch looking in..

For those of you who listen to country, I absolutely love the song Front Porch Looking In by Lonestar. Here's a few lyrics that I enjoy:

"I've traveled here and everywhere
Following my job
I've seen the paintings from the air
Brushed by the hand of God
The mountains and the canyons reach from sea to shining sea
But I can't wait to get back home
To the one he made for me
It's anywhere I'll ever go and everywhere I've been
Nothing takes my breath away
Like my front porch looking in "

"I see what beautiful is about
When I'm looking in
Not when I'm looking out"

"There's a carrot top who can barely walk
With a sippy cup of milk
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong
'Cause she likes to dress herself
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them
And the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in"

This is my front porch looking in, and I love it!

Aaron helping Jaylen play his favorite game on pbskids.com- Scrub a Pup. Jaylen could play this game over and over and over. He loves pushing the "but-butns (button)."

Best 2 boys ever. Period.

Jaylen obsessions

1. Sprinklers- loves finding any and all sprinklers in the ground. "I FIND IT!!"
2. Vacuums- Yes, he still is absolutely crazy about it and has to hug and kiss it before we put it to "bed" in the bathtub.
3. Keys- He marvels me how he knows which key opens the gate, the mailbox, our house, and our car and he can open them all on his own.

A couple stories I love about Jaylen recently-

He is smart and remembers alot more than I think he does. We drove by the golf course Aaron played on for his birthday and Jaylen immediately started saying how cold it was and talked about the dryer in the bathroom. I walked up with Jaylen in the stroller while Aaron was playing on his birthday and Jaylen got really upset after awhile because it was cold. I was surprised he remembered so much from that little event months ago- poor kid was traumatized I guess!

Last night as we were saying family prayers, Jaylen randomly said, "Thank you Stink (his word for Steve) and Ellie are my friends." We've never prompted him to say that before and it was really cute the way he said it. He is such a sweet guy and the more we hear what he's thinking the more amazed we are!

Jaylenisms

Jaylen is flat out hilarious sometimes. Here's a few of his recent sayings that made me laugh.

While family was here for graduation our neighbor, Dossie, walked by with her 2 teenage boys as we were putting the bike trailer in the car. Jaylen saw her, with his finger up his nose, said "Hey! I'm picking my nose!" Completely random, and probably his first real sentence. Dossie's reaction was priceless..

As I was leaving work yesterday I came to an intersection. Jaylen started saying "Go this way, go THIS way," as he was pointing to the left. I turned right to head home and Jaylen freaked out. "Mommmm, go THAT WAY!" over and over. I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he said, "Mommy, GROCERY STORE!" Smart kid. He knows where food comes from!

Since the playoffs we've had plenty of basketball going on in our house. Jaylen loves to shoot hoops and say, "C'mon Rondo! Shoot it Pierce! C'mon trick or treat Allen! Shoot it Ray-Ray!" He's so cute getting all into the games with Aaron..

Jaylen was laying with me in bed in the morning, and I woke up and watched him sleep for a bit. He is like an on/off switch when he wakes up. He opened his eyes and immediately sat up and started crawling out of bed. I asked him where he was going. He responded, "I'm scarrry hungry, Mommy!" He usually wakes up, immediately searching for food saying he's hungry, but never "scary hungry." Poor kid has an Edgley and Westhoff appetite.

GRADUATION!

YAY! So proud of Aaron! It was so awesome to have all his family here to support this special day with us. We're so grateful they came to celebrate with us- we have such awesome, supportive family!

Here's Aaron first putting on the robe.. "What is this? Dumbledore's robe??"

Cute Graduate!

Waiting for it all to begin...

We could see Aaron coming from a mile away! I know he's tall, but seeing him walk in, really made him seem like a giant!

Silly photo! I love it- classic face Merilee!

Love this guy!

I can't even describe how proud I am of Aaron. Trying to work full time, spend time with 2 needy family members at home, do internships, do full-time school, and numerous other tasks for 2 years is no easy feat. On Wednesdays he would be at school/class from 6 am to 10 pm and Mondays from 6 am to 7 pm, and worked everyday but Sunday this past semester. He worked tirelessly and with no complaints did an awesome job juggling all his responsibilities. We've been talking about graduation for awhile, and it was awesome to support him at the commencement. Tears came to my eyes thinking of all he does for our family and the work he puts in to make our future a fun one.

As far as jobs goes, he's working as a tech for a pest control company still and also working part time at Southwest Sports Institute as he searches for the right job. A lot of jobs are being posted as summer is starting, so he's busy applying and searching for jobs. It's an exciting process and I'm excited for Aaron to get a job he really enjoys full time!

We are SUPER ready to move on from school and start blazing our own trail in the world! Watch out- here we come!

We Love Grandma!

Absolutely love these pictures from the last night Merilee was with us.

Jaylen loves his Grandma!!

Hiking in the Sandia Mountains

It was fun to hike up in the Sandia mountains! It got really windy towards the end, but it was a great view!

Jaylen kept giving Merilee and Crystal flowers, and saying "Ohhhh, pretty!"

Friday- Old Town

Friday we went to visit Old Town and went on a hike up in the foothills of the Sandia mountains. It was great weather, except for it got REALLY windy during the hike. We also made sure everyone got a taste of Golden Pride burritoes. YUM YUM!- voted best breakfast burrito in New Mexico! Here's some fun pictures of our day out with the fam-

Jaylen pushing Lyndon- pretty scary but no one got hurt :)
