Stories from lately

Gavin is hilarious. Lately it seems like he's always saying and doing funny things that Aaron and I are saying, "We need to write that one down."

Gavin came in to me one morning and said, "Mom, I'm soooo hungry. I need food so I won't die!"

We were hiking up through Kanarra Falls and talking about what a pretty day it was, how perfect it was to be together, in the sun, hiking, playing in the water, and Gavin said, "And be eating BACOONN!!!" (which he says like Macon).

I carried Gavin on the way back from Kanarra Falls. He was jabbering away the whole time. He told me all about the meal of his dream, "Oh, I think I'll have a peanut butter and honey sandwich and then I'll eat a peach. And then I'll have a slice of pizza. With macon (bacon). Yeah, bacon. I love eating bacon Mom. Then I'll have a root beer. It's sooooo tassstty."  Towards the end he got distracted by playing with my hair and said, "So beautiful, Mom." It's the first time I've heard him say beautiful. It was absolutely heart melting. I love these sweet moments with my Gavin.

Gavin brought Aaron a bowl of freshly cut pineapple to him in his office. Aaron leaned in to him and whispered, "Thanks Gavin, I love you!" and as Gavin turned to go out, Aaron asked him if he could bring him a fork. Gavin leaned in to Aaron and whispered, "You can just eat it with your hands," mimicking Aaron.

There is a Weezer song that is on a CD that we've been listening to in the car. Part of the song goes, "And when I day dream, we're eating ice cream..." and the kids go CRAZY. Gavin laughs and laughs and laughs and sings the song throughout the day. It also says, "When I fall down, you put me back together.." Gavin says together with an R in the middle- so togretter is what it sounds like. It's the best. It's definitely a family favorite in the car.  He loves "songs" in the car. It's cute to hear him singing to the songs we love to listen to!

Gavin loves to be snuggled at night, specifically by Aaron. He wanted to be snuggled for 5. We have no idea what that means, but to him 5 is really something. When 5 was no longer enough, he's now stuck on 10. "I need you to snuggle me for 10." When Aaron goes to get up, Gavin pulls him back and says, "But 10 is A LOT."  So whenever he wants something, he wants it for 10. It's so random, and oh so cute.

We snuggled, scratched and tucked the boys into bed. Awhile later, after we were in bed, we heard cries. Aaron went in and Gavin was the one crying. Aaron asked him what was the matter. He responded, "I just need someone?" like a question. Aaron snuggled him for a bit before he drifted back off. So cute!

The boys are crazy about having their backs scratched (for 10 per Gavin). Morning and night they ask to have their backs and booties scratched.

I absolutely love the mornings that Jaylen comes in early and snuggles with me. Anytime I'm home, he comes in and curls up by me and we snuggle for 30 min- 1 hour. I scratch his back, talk about his dreams, and I watch his sleepy face drift in and out on my chest. I love this sweet time.
