April 2012

Got bed head?

The tooth fairy comes to visit Jaylen's preschool.

Very odd dinner of baked zucchini and squash with blackberry pancakes. Jaylen LOVED eating his name!

Our old neighbors, Gus and Max, came by to play for the day! They played so hard and got SO dirty we threw them all in the bath. The water was SO gross!

Running outside more. Ran around Pt Defiance trails in the rain with a friend from the Y, and was COVERED in mud when we got back. Rainier to Ruston 50 mile ultra in a little over a month!
Celebrating Birgita's 4th birthday!

Jaylen is constantly doing funny things. Lately:

We were hiding under a blanket to surprise Aaron when he got home from work. Jaylen popped his head out and tooted and giggled and giggled about tooting while I was still under the blanket. Quite mature, little boy!

We walked by the weight room to head to my office and Jaylen stopped in his tracks and looked in and said, "Mom!! Is there were you make people sooooo healthy?! I want to be such a healthy boy and make people healthy too!!!" A few ladies in the hall were cracking up. We attended "Healthy Kid's day" the next day and Jaylen attempted jumping jacks, hula hoop, jump rope, push ups, & sit ups as part of the obstacle course. VERY entertaining. He is sooo goofy! Aaron told Jaylen to come to him, and Jaylen said, "Dad, I have a tight schedule I need to keep!"

Jaylen will say when he's sad that "his heart isn't happy." It's really sad!

Gavin will be walking ANY day. He's standing on his own and is really tempted to take a step. I think he's conservative since he's prone to get knocked over by Jaylen.

Big news for us this week: We're headed to HAWAII!  Brett and Sharon have offered up their home for us to stay and a car for us to use, and they are moving away from HI this summer, so this is our chance so we're going! Woo hoooo!

Beautiful spring weekend!

We had a sunny, beautiful weekend, so we did what we do best- PLAY! We spent the afternoon on Friday at the zoo and Pt Defiance park with Nastasha. Saturday we went to Chamber's Bay to play with Nastasha on her paddleboard and roam the grass. Nastasha watched our kids Saturday night while we went on an awesome movie/dinner date night. Definitely feel spoiled!

Sticks and room to roam keep these boys happy!

Gavin LOVES my sunglasses

My first time heading out

Aaron was up! But then fell in 2 times and couldn't quite keep in charge of the board. He was a trooper to try!

Jaylen LOVED it! He was grinning ear to ear!

Back out again..

Scooter trains..

Jaylen went round and round and round the grass area at the park on the scooter. He had to have rolled over 3 miles at least!

Gavin loves going in head first to snuggle!

Gavin loved roaming the grass.

Being a mom

My heart is really full, and despite being sick all week, it's been a wonderful week with many precious moments with my kids.  A lot has been on my mind and in my heart this week.

Being a mom hasn't been an easy adjustment for me. I have struggled with it A LOT.  Although I feel like I could be diagnosed mentally insane at times, I am really, really appreciating my role as a mother lately.  I've felt so many tender moments with my boys that can't be replaced by anything in this world. Jaylen is the sweetest little boy I could have dreamed for, and he's all mine to hug, kiss, snuggle and talk to all day long. He says and asks the most innocent, sweet, cutest things- I just can't believe he's mine. He's so handsome, constantly reminds me of his adorable Dad, and is so full of curiosity and a love for life. He's constantly reminding me of the things that really matter and to enjoy everything around me.

Gavin is quite possibly the best natured baby in the world. He's happy, adorable, and his personality just oozes out more and more every day. He loves trying to feed his brother Jaylen and giggles and giggles when playing with him. He loves to stack blocks up, and follow around his older brother, even if he's constantly teasing and pulled around by him. He sleeps better than anyone I've ever known. He's playful, a tease, and is constantly looking around for food. There is nothing like him- he's the best.

I never want my kids to ever wonder if they are loved. I can't tell you how much of my day involves staring, admiring and beaming with pride from my boys. I'm so appreciative of all the small, sweet moments I have being a young mother of 2 special young boys.  There is nothing in the world that can compare to being a mom. I feel so blessed to have such a loving, special family and be able to  learn from my children. When I have tender moments with my boys, I feel just an overwhelming sense of gratitude and wonder that this sweet child in front of me is sharing this moment, looking at me as his mother, and only I have this special mother/son relationship with him. It can't be replaced or taken. Those sweet little set of eyes are for me to love and take care of.

So Jaylen, Gavin- I love you. I'm so proud to be your mom, and love everything about you. I study your cute little faces and thoroughly enjoy being able to watch you grow before my eyes. You make my life and world a better place and I'm happy you chose to join our home.

Jaylen took his fire station training seriously.

Last night when I was cooking dinner, some of the juice from the meatloaf spilled out in the oven. When I opened the oven, smoke came raging out. Jaylen, who was sitting at the kitchen table, yelled, "SMOKE!", dropped on all fours and crawled out the front door in no time. He told me very sternly we needed to call 911.  I couldn't help but laugh and be impressed by his quick fire safety skills!

Jaylen was talking to Aaron and told him he was "puzzled." It was quite entertaining listening to Aaron question Jaylen on why he was so puzzled.

Easter 2012

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful weekend for Easter. It was gorgeous out. Unfortunately, Gavin and I are sick, but still had a good time being part of the family dinner and egg hunt. We had a fun weekend eating cinnamon rolls and teaching Jaylen about the resurrection. It was a full, fun-filled day.

Seattle

We had a fun day Saturday. A session in the temple, taking the kids around the temple grounds, and visiting Seattle. It was a gorgeous day!

Love those smiles!
