Sushi and such at 23 months!

Jaylen, Jaylen, Jaylen. I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life than this month. I have to record some of his recent doings.

First, he's very literal. A couple weeks ago at bedtime, we finished up reading some books and I told Jaylen to go "jump into bed." So, Jaylen runs to our room, climbs unto our bed and begins jumping with a huge smile on his face.

Yesterday morning I told Jaylen to go "jump into his high chair" for breakfast. Jaylen runs over to our large chair, climbs on and begins to jump laughing with every jump. I guess I need to find a new phrase to use besides jumping.

Jaylen has 3 best friends he loves to sleep with and bring into our bed in the morning. A large black bear Braden gave him for Christmas, the Grinch (which I've tried to put away, but Jaylen simply won't have it), and a blue monkey my mom got him over a year or so ago.

Two days ago he grabbed the Grinch and explained to him that the candy was all gone. No more candy. Its all gone. Bye bye candy. It made me chuckle. He says the candy is all gone much more cute than I do.

Jaylen loves saying I love you and he says it in the cutest way. Before Aaron leaves for work he'll say, "I love you daddddddy!" He also loves to say it before bedtime too. It seriously is by far the cutest thing he's done to date. It really melts our hearts.

Along the same lines, Jaylen loves to give kisses and hugs. Immediately after giving a kiss, he'll say, "Hug?" then pull his head in close for a hug. It is really sweet.

Aaron and I went on a date Saturday night and did one of those little photo booth things you find in the mall. I put my strip in a frame by my bed, and Jaylen giggled and giggled over our silly faces in the pictures and when he got to the last one where we're kissing, he picked it up and gave us a big kiss on the picture frame. He kept saying, "Mommy. Daddy. CUTE!"

We put a latch on the fridge and dishwasher to keep him out and within 10 minutes of it being on he figured out how to open it. Dang it.

The most embarrassing and yet funniest is his fish eating incident yesterday:
I went over for a Young Women's presidency meeting at the president's home. Jaylen kept wondering off into her kids' rooms (which all had fish tanks in them) and was all over the place with curiosity. It was frustrating- I was basically chasing him the whole time. Well, someone went back to go to the bathroom, so I figured Jaylen just followed. I heard water, and jumped up to go check and make sure everything was okay. I found Jaylen in one of her little boy's rooms. Jaylen had water down his shirt, the little fish tank bowl on the carpet with water and little rocks everywhere. The fish? Completely gone, Jaylen ate it. (Bowl was sitting on a really low shelf) I hurried up and cleaned it up with a towel in the bathroom and Jaylen kept saying, "Fishy! Fishy!" I waited around to say something about it, but the meeting kept going on- past 2 hours- and Jaylen was getting really fussy for his nap. So I had to excuse us before getting to say anything. Jaylen didn't seem very effected by it at all, but I was gagging by the fishy smell on his shirt. Later that night at dinner, Aaron asked Jaylen where the fish went. Jaylen lifted up his shirt and pointed to his belly. We about died laughing. Jaylen is one silly, awfully cute kid.

So, how do you tell someone you don't know very well that your son ate their fish? I'm afraid I've waited too long, and I'm still deciding what to do...

Jaylen is turning 2 next week, and I have a feeling we're in for a fun, eventful year!

Sleeping in the high chair

Aaron spent the morning with Jaylen the other day and here's a fun clip he got of Jaylen falling asleep in his high chair. Such a funny little boy. Love that cheesy grin of his!

Contagious laughs

This kid is hilarious. When Jaylen laughs really hard or gets tickled, he'll say "No way!! No way!!" It really cracks us up and its really cute. Unfortunately, he's starting to say that all the time now, not just when he's tickled so it might not be funny for long! Here's a couple things that Jaylen is highly amused by:

Being tickled!

Eating food a messy as possible. The farther up his nose the yogurt goes the more he laughs.

Jaylen loves "horsie rides" on our back. He loves being knocked off, so much so that he'll run around and throw himself on the floor an bonk his head to get the effect of a "knock off." Its absolutely ridiculous but Jaylen sure gets a kick out of it.

Silly boy

Here's some more contagious laughing videos of Jaylen recently. He is in love with his little cars that we got him for Christmas and he loves when they go down the couch. I wish we could have gotten a clip the first time the cars went down. He was busting up.

Second video of Jaylen and I in his tent playing with his cars. He thinks it's hilarious when I sniff he feet then say "ewwwww!"

Last video: Jaylen thinks Aaron is the funniest thing ever. He laughs at Aaron for no reason all the time. This video was last night at dinner, Aaron was putting his nose to his food then acting like it was hot. Jaylen could not stop laughing. This went on an on. We love his deep belly laugh!

If anyone wants to add some yummy, tried and true recipes to the blog, let me know! Its still a bit of a work in progress, but most of the recipes are up!

Cousin Bath Fun!

SHEW! Wow, that was a lot of post and pictures. One note I wanted to make about the trip was cutting Jaylen's hair. What a sad, sad day for me. I loved his beach bum, long, blonde hair! He started twirling it a lot on the back on one side and was balding in one circle. So, we took out the trimmers and buzzed it short. I think I might have shed a couple tears as it was coming off, but I still think he's extremely adorable with his short hair. His eyes stand out a little more and he definitely looks older to me now. He now loves to twirl my hair when I hold him!

I think I covered everything on the trip. Here's a couple more fun pictures and I'll probably look at my videos and post those sometime soon as well. These guys were a lot of fun together!

New Years!!!!!!!

New Year's was great fun! Alex and Jen, Adam, Crystal and Lyndon all came up for the fun (James Matthews and Phil Beck came up for a little bit for the fun too!). The Edgleys combined with the Betteridges always equal a very entertaining time. We had a blast. It was great spending time with everyone! We went to Seigfrieds to eat, walked over to downtown SLC to go ice skating and listen to musicians and watch snowboarders go off rails. We met up with Alex and Jen back at Ben and Rach's place and ate some yummy chocolate fondue. We all had a late night, with most everyone going to bed at 5 am. Settler's of Catan and Mario Wii were popular entertainment to keep everyone having fun! Bottle rockets at midnight were fun, along with Rach using her nude suit to streak her friends house.

Here's the Edgley group!

Another cute picture of us all...

Aaron with sleepy Lyndon and Jaylen!

Kids loved seeing puppies, birds, and fish at a pet store..

Ice skating in downtown SLC after a delicious meal at an authentic German restaurant, Seigfrieds.

Jaylen loves giving Aaron wet kisses and slapping his cheeks! These boys are the best things ever..

Lyndon got plenty of loves from Birgita and Jaylen!

Us on New Year's Eve!

What an awesome group!

Martinellis!

New Year's breakfast! It was so yummy! Crepes and Magleby's french toast. Rach is an amazing cook!

Silly Edgley brothers being Jedis in Snuggies.

Fun in Utah

Here's some pictures from our stay in Utah, not on the actually holidays.

Jaylen LOVED the snow. He was cute out there doing his own thing.

So funny. Jaylen loved being pushed in the stroller while Birgita loved pushing him around in it!

So I cut my hair! I've had a frustrating time with my hair in the past year or two, feeling like it had no style and just didn't feel like it was cute. I either wanted to grow it out really long, or I thought about cutting it like Rach's when in Utah with the lady who does her hair. I'm really happy I went with this cut. It is really easy to do, and I'm happy about feeling like I actually have a style. I've always thought Rach's hair was really adorable on her, and since we look alike and have similar hair, and currently don't live by each other- thought it was my chance to try it out! I'm happy!

We met up with Aaron's mission companion, Brian Shaw and his family, to eat Cafe Rio! Really fun to see old friends!

Kate, a girl Aaron went to school with, and was in the bishopric of the student ward she was in in Virginia, came home from her mission while we were in Utah and we happened to be within 4 miles of the building she was speaking at, so we showed up at her homecoming! It was really fun to see her and hear of her experiences on the mission! She is awesome!

We visited the Planetarium and walked on the Moon!

And Mars...

Aaron impersonated the weather man down here that he can't stand...

We went to an awesome laser show that was called "Rock on Demand." The music and effects were programmed to popular rock songs. It was really amazing!

Bath time with Birgita!

Here's a couple cute pictures of a bath with Birgita and Jaylen. They played really well together. They loved splashing like crazy in the tub. Jaylen loved spitting out water!

Christmas Day!

Christmas was hilarious. Jaylen loved opening presents. In fact, he opened anything and everything near by him so quickly, a lot of gifts we didn't really know who they came from. As always, we loved watching Braden and Christian so excited about the whole thing. Santa is going to be awesome in the future with Jaylen. Braden and Christian are so funny about the whole Santa thing. Here's some pics of Christmas...

Aaron trying to keep all the kidos downstairs till Santa was gone..

First sight of Christmas as kids came up stairs.

Jaylen loves pushing around strollers!

Jaylen was really happy with his little cars in his stocking

Birgita and Jaylen were really cute playing in his tent!

Cute cousins giving kisses in Jaylen's tent

Braden got Jaylen this bear. From the minute Jaylen saw it, he snuggled and loved it! Its really cute. He has some stuffed animals at home, but for some reason he's really attached to this one now. He falls asleep snuggling on top of it. Its super sweet.

Aaron was really happy with this book Adam and Crystal got him!

Loved my new Shade shirts!

So we really wanted to get Rach and Ben the complete series of Seinfeld. I looked up a millions sites online that were selling the series. I found a set that looked really nice and purchased it. A week or so later I get a note to come to the post office to pick it up. When I went to get it, I realized it came from China. The cover looked nice, but wasn't the usual one we'd seen before so I was slightly worried. After they opened it, a couple of the seasons had the wrong characters on the CDs. I couldn't help but laugh. Dang it. I paid some good money for a bootlegged copy!

Ben feel asleep holding Birgita's doll. We all had a good laugh...

We are so grateful to family for all the support and help they give to us. Thank you to everyone for their thoughtful, sweet, fun and extremely helpful gifts!

Christmas Eve!

Christmas was absolutely awesome this year. Rach and Ben's family are so fun to be with. Most people reading my blog know the relation, but just in case someone out there doesn't, Aaron is Ben's nephew and Rachel is my sister. So we get to see both sides of our family all in one! We always have a ton of fun with Rach and Ben's family. They are always up for a good time and we have a blast when we're around them. They're so loving and supportive and we absolutely adore their kids. Here's some fun from Christmas Eve..

Our matching Christmas PJs!

Birthday cake for Jesus. We love this tradition. I love how it helps little kids understand the birth of Christ. Jaylen kept saying "happy, happy!" after we sang happy birthday to Jesus. It was precious.

Cute kisses! After this kiss, we were encouraging them to give each other a kiss again in front of the tree, and as they were approaching each other, someone told Birgita to give Jaylen a "smacker." She quickly changed from a kiss to a slap across Jaylen's face. We couldn't stop laughing about it. It was hilarious!

Jaylen doesn't like holding still when he could be playing. He especially wasn't happy with Braden putting him in a head lock to get him to hold still.
